A young and pretty lady posted this on a popular forum:
Title: What should I do to marry a rich guy?
I ' m going to be honest of what I ' m going to say here. I ' m 25 this year. I ' m very pretty, have style and good taste. I wish to marry a guy with $500k annual salary or above. You might say that I ' m greedy, but an annual salary of $1M is considered only as middle class in New York . My requirement is not high. Is there anyone in this forum who has an income of $500k annual salary? Are you all married? I wanted to ask: what should I do to marry rich persons like you? Among those I ' ve dated, the richest is $250k annual income, and it seems that this is my upper limit. If someone is going to move into high cost residential area on the west of New York City Garden ( ? ) , $250k annual income is not enough.
I ' m here humbly to ask a few questions:
1) Where do most rich bachelors hang out? (Please list down the names and addresses of bars, restaurant, gym)
2) Which age group should I target?
3) Why most wives of the riches is only average-looking? I ' ve met a few girls who doesn ' t have looks and are not interesting, but they are able to marry rich guys
4) How do you decide who can be your wife, and who can only be your girlfriend? (my target now is to get married)
Ms. Pretty
Here ' s a reply from a Wall Street Financial guy:
Dear Ms. Pretty,
I have read your post with great interest. Guess there are lots of girls out there who have similar questions like yours. Please allow me to analyze your situation as a professional investor. My annual income is more than $500k, which meets your requirement, so I hope everyone believes that I ' m not wasting time here.
From the standpoint of a business person, it is a bad decision to marry you. The answer is very simple, so let me explain. Put the details aside, what you ' re trying to do is an exchange of "beauty" and "money ": Person A provides beauty, and Person B pays for it, fair and square. However, there ' s a deadly problem here, your beauty will fade, but my money will not be gone without any good reason. The fact is, my income might increase from year to year, but you can ' t be prettier year after year. Hence from the viewpoint of economics, I am an appreciation asset, and you are a depreciation asset. It ' s not just normal depreciation, but exponential depreciation. If that is your only asset, your value will be much worried 10 years later
By the terms we use in Wall Street, every trading has a position, dating with you is also a "trading position ". If the trade value dropped we will sell it and it is not a good idea to keep it for long term - same goes with the marriage that you wanted. It might be cruel to say this, but in order to make a wiser decision any assets with great depreciation value will be sold or "leased ". Anyone with over $500k annual income is not a fool; we would only date you, but will not marry you. I would advice that you forget looking for any clues to marry a rich guy. And by the way, you could make yourself to become a rich person with $500k annual income. This has better chance than finding a rich fool.
Hope this reply helps. If you are interested in "leasing" services, do contact me

GrandPa
A hat-seller who was passing by a forest decided to take a nap under one of the trees, so he left his whole basket of hats by the side.. A few hours later, he woke up and realized that all his hats were gone..
He looked up and to his surprise, the tree was full of monkeys and they had taken all his hats. he sits down and thinks of how he can get the hats down. While thinking he started to scratch his head. The next moment, the monkeys were doing the same.
Next, he took down his own hat, the monkeys did exactly the same. An idea came to him, he took his hat and threw it on the floor and the monkeys did that too. So he finally managed to get all his hats back.
Fifty years later, his grandson, also became a hat-seller and had heard this monkey story from his grandfather. One day, just like his grandfather, he passed by the same forest. It was very hot, and he took a nap under the same tree and left the hats on the floor.
He woke up and realized that all his hats were taken by the monkeys on the tree. He remembered his grandfather's words, started scratching his head and the monkeys followed. He took down his hat and fanned himself and again the monkeys followed. Now, very convinced of his grandfather's idea, he threw his hat on the floor but to his surprise the monkeys still held on to all the hats. Then one monkey climbed down the tree, grabbed the hat on the floor, gave him a slap and said.............

USM Convo 2007
Last weekend was the convocation for USM students and some friends asked me along to visit the convo session of Saturday evening at USM campus, Penang.
We went there prepared with flowers.
Arriving at the hall, we can see the place already crowded with friends and families of the graduates waiting...The crowd is still waiting...
The venue: Dewan Tuanku Syed Putra
Finally, the long awaited graduate
Cute isn't she?
However, I want to spoil the scene...
Here I am, creating Beauty and the Beast...
For chess playing friends, guess who I met there...
Congratulations to all graduates!!

Demotivated
I got a letter from the HR. Excited, I read the content but yet again, they let me down. A series after the incident of a Bad Day.
Luckily I got my leave application for 30th August approved. A good news out of all bad news.
It seems like now I had to put all my attention at chess in order to squeeze some motivation out of it.
Well, I guess I need to go after the phrase "Happy Go Lucky"~~
May the force be with me~~

First Day @ Camping
Well, cubicle demolished and today is my first day camping at my boss's place. It will be a few more weeks before my place is ready...
Happy camping...

Last Day
2 years! I had been sitting in this cubicle for 2 years! Today is my last day here. I will be "homeless" starting next week since the new place is not yet ready and I will need to move myself out. Why? What happened? Read "Bad Day" for details.
The department is expanding and is running out of space but since I am dispencable, I am forced to sacrify my cubicle so that people can build more cubicle out of it...
Incidently, my boss is on his long vacation starting next week, and the homeless me will hide in his place for now...
Pity...

How Lian
I got some feedback from the others today. Guess what, one of the feedbacks about me at my work place is that I am "how lian". Erm, for those who don't know, how lian means arrogant.
I also don't know why I got this comment but this is what the other sees, so I will try to sort this out and become not how lian.
Cheers!

Bad Day
Today, first of August is a bad day.
0945: Your are too young to get promoted even if your boss agrees...
WTF? Does age matters with efficiency and ability?
1230: Ok, we will demolish your cubicle and you will share a long table, ops, "small cubicle" with everyone starting next month.
Well, I cannot say too much on this since I am lucky not to get demoted.
1500: Your leave application for 30/8/07 is on hold for further consideration...
Ok, this is not acceptable and I will be off on this day at all costs.
What else? So many BAD NEWS in one short. A sign that I am no longer needed and should be looking for new challenge?
May be I should start to distribute some resume...

Is Your Printer Spying On You?
Is your printer spying on you? But how? Is it going to watch you while you are sleeping? No! Definitely not. But it is spying on you on a more scary way.
Finding by EFF, Electronic Frontier Foundation shows that every time you print something with your color laser jets, a secret code is actually embedded along with the printout.
Take a look at the following picture. these yellow dots which are invisible for naked eyes is embedded on the printout by most of the laser printer model. However, not all model is associated with this function or a least the searching by EFF that comes with the list of printers shows some printers does not spy on you. Or do they?
Pretty scary hey?
For poor people like me that is using an inkjet will have little to worry about this since the printing that I normally get is not-too-clear to able to embed yellow dots...

Something is inside!!
Take a look at these pictures:
and
See what's inside?
Mouse?! Correct! This mouse was eating my breakfast inside the container when my mom first found them. 1 managed to run but this 1 was trapped!
Nowadays, the mouses are becoming more and more "intelligent"! They managed to push the top cover of the container and run inside! So they did evolved and may be later transformed?!
No wonder they survived till today while their comtemporary dinosaurs died out centuries ago......

Kittens
Not sure whether these kittens are still alive, hopefully they are, but the time when they are saved from the drain they were almost drown. They were then found crying in the drain outside the PCA club house during heavy down pour before lunch on the Penang Closed Chess Tournament. Luckily!!
Notice the hand?
And the hands?

Finally!! I got the chance to watch the movie, Transformers!!. Life had been busy for me lately but I am from the generations that grown up watching the cartoon of Transfomers so watching the movie is kind of a must. This time, I managed to watch the movie at BJ after the Penang Closed Chess Tournament. The initial plan was to watch at Queensbay Mall but the mall was too crowded...
Another screen shot of the movie.

Bill Gates No Longer Richest

Defensive Piranhas
Just read an article from Yahoo.com saying that Piranhas gather in order to defend themselves from dangers, for example being eaten by larger predators.
In the past the public always thought that the Piranhas are actually gathering to attack which is false......

Jit Sin High School
Finally, I visited Jit Sin High School during my lunch hour earlier today. It had been ages since I last visited Jit Sin High School. I think almost 6 years ago. Today, I was there to bring some news to their chess club on Penang Age Group Chess Tournament 2007 and Penang Closed Chess Tournament 2007.
While managed to visit some teachers that had knew me, and still knows me (I guess) the building of the school had not changed much, >50% of the teachers are new to me. I guess 7 years (I graduated at year 2000) is a long time.
Things changed as time moved on...

Fantasy
My friend originally wanted to go for Ocean's Thirteen but for some reason, the cinema that we were heading toward stopped showing the movie even though it is only 2 weeks old so we were left with "no choice" but to watch Fantastic 4. My favor remember? Hehehe...
I wonder why the reviewer that I had mentioned in my previous post write off the Fantastic 4 but personally, I think it is not bad. The computer graphic is great too. May be the reviewer does not like fantasy...

Counting Down
3 more working days before my 10 days holidays!!
Haven't been blogging over here for quite some times. I was and still is busy with various commitments on job and chess. I had to strive for a balance between these 2 as they both leads to different future...
For the moment, chess is more important but job is taking more of my time. National Championship is only 4 more days away but I am yet to do revision on things...
Anyway, just go to have fun and try not to lose too many games as possible.
Looking forward for the 10 days break too...
Cheers!

Manual Entry or Automation?
Lately, my boss had us involved in a project to produce a process where if successful will be able to replace a few human data entry clerks.
The project is now in the mids of its development life cycle were we are cracking our head to figure out all the possible and necessary scenario for exception handling. Exception handling does not just involve syntax or programming error, but they involved error message return from the destination system, for example, invalid entry or missing compulsory entry...
Besides all the difficulty in the coding, I see bright future for the project! Another part of the project where the engine login to destination system and request data/report was already done and implemented!
Hopefully the pending parts can be done before my approved holidays from 26 May to 4th June so that I can go on holidays without any worries...
May the force be with us!

I am the culprit
I was the culprit in my attempt to declaring my income tax successfully as I cannot login with my digital signature properly. And the reason is... the language of the OS was set to a native language instead of English (US). So for those having the same error "error 5, invalid procedure call or argument", please proceed to change your regional and language settings to English (US).
Cheers!!

Last day to declare income tax
Just back from the income tax office (LHDN) where the area including the roads to there and the parking area was full of people. No camera around to take any photo though. I just parked my car 500M away, rush to the office, get my Pin and run home to finish the final step...

Rusty
The last time I sign in to Chess Tactics Server was 1 month ago on 27th Mar 2007. Details as shown:
The consequences of being inactive for 1 month is RUSTY and hence I got following rating and success rate:
60 rating points missing, 1664 -> 1604 and 0.1% success rate missing, 80.2% -> 80.1%.
Well, it's terrible as even at some point, my rating drop till below 1600, 1570+ to be exact!! So chess require constant practice~~ Practice make perfect~~
Cheers!!
